The Mix & Mingle, in its fourth consecutive year, is the premier and most anticipated opportunity for new and seasoned magazine professionals from all sectors of the magazine industry to make new friends and build professional connections. The relaxed atmosphere provides attendees with a comfortable after-work platform to network with each other. Over 350 diverse magazine, advertising, digital and other media professionals attended this year, which made the 2008 Mix and Mingle a prime opportunity to celebrate diversity.
"It is amazing how the Mix & Mingle - developed out of a need for the industry's workforce of color to expand their personal networks - has become the industry's 'must-attend' event of the year," said Shaunice Hawkins, Vice President of Diversity & Multicultural Initiatives, MPA.
Overlooking the remarkable backdrop of New York City’s famed Bryant Park, attendees enjoyed a networking cocktail reception held inside Bryant Park Grill, which is nestled behind the park’s exquisite greenery. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres floated around the room while business cards were exchanged and ideas were shared amongst the leaders of the magazine industry. Guests were able to determine what line of business other attendees belonged by color-coded name badges, which made for a very easy and productive networking experience.
“What a GREAT event—people, place, vibe (and food!). You know it’s a success when they turn the lights up to get folks to leave!" said Charlotte Barnard, Deputy Editor, Country Living.
"I'm so thrilled that the event is a resounding success," added Hawkins, "I am truly amazed by the testimonials of those who've made strategic connections they never would have made had they not attended. That's what the Mix & Mingle is all about - making those connections or, in some cases, reconnections in magazines."
