The magazine world has fallen on tough times. Layoffs, closures, and hiring freezes are a reality for magazine editors today. How can you set yourself apart when employers are receiving more resumes for fewer positions? ASME NEXT presents a panel of editors and hiring managers who have first-hand experience navigating this volatile landscape.
Our panelists:
Chandra Turner
is the founder and president of Ed2010.com, a networking and mentoring organization committed to helping aspiring and junior-level editors reach their dream magazine jobs. The former ASME intern is currently the Executive Editor at
Parents
magazine. Previously, she was an editor at
Ladies' Home Journal, Cosmopolitan, YM,
and
Glamour.
Beth Roerhig
is a former editor at
Home
, which folded in August 2008. Since then, she has freelanced for publications such as
Time Out New York Kids, Country Living, Self,
and
This Old House.
Also in attendance will be a Human Resources representative from a major publishing company.
